Gina, Kayla & Cathy re-opened the Yukon Library in 2023 after it had been closed during the pandemic. It has taken many hours of volunteer work, weeding through books, organizing, updating systems, cataloging books, and much more to get it up and running again for the students. It is our pleasure to help run the library so Yukon's students have access to the all the books it has to offer.
Mrs. Gina Sand is the current Library chair and was the first to get involved in helping re-open the library. She has a daughter in 5th grade and has been a loyal volunteer to the library and Yukon over the years. She has a passion for books and helping the students enjoy their time!
Mrs. Kayla Mandell joined in with Gina to help get the library cleaned up and organized and stayed on as a librarian ever since. She has a daughter in 4th grade and son in 2nd. She has helped bring life back into the library by refinishing the library desk and updating the library decor to keep the students excited.
Mrs. Cathy Ramirez is the brains behind the library. She was integral in getting the libraries software up and running to ensure smoothly run visits and check outs. She has helped us work out all of the kinks while also volunteering her time to help run visits.
We are all thankful to volunteer our time to keep the Yukon Library running for the students to enjoy. If you are looking for something to do to keep involved in the school, and see your students please consider volunteering to be a Librarian or Librarian Assistant. Next year in 2026 we will need all the extra hands we can get to keep the library running as Gina and Cathy will be moving on from the school. We will be so sad to see them go!
